The three 'BUT' sisters will be used… 'AHBUT' 'AWBUT' and little 'GEEBUT'

Ahbut the others weren't trying. Awbut someone must have used an engine. Geebut ARC are wrong….

Re: Lagoon 52

yeah but..you realise that is just the first leg of the ARC+ so its just 800 odd miles from Las Palmas to cape Verde. SO 14 hrs is around 20% faster

the new placement of the mast has two huge advantages, 1. provides for a self tacking jib and moves the cg aft which makes the new 52 sail and motor more stable, It is the newest generation from lagoon and has been on the drawing boards for a few years. It is a fantastic platform

cheers mate

Yup, this is the whole "form follows function" vs "function follows form" debate. Do you want better sailing or good cabin aesthetics?

1-2 knots faster means 24-48 miles more per day, which also means cutting down at least a day on a week long passage, not bad.

However, since these are practically floating islands, I wouldn't mind "being on the road" for an extra day or two but I would definitely mind about upwind angle and that makes better sailing for me. JMHO of course...
