Lagoon 450S gets name "PROUD CAT"

My wife (PROUD) and I are in Thailand. We have been looking at catamarans for 4 months. Found a 470 that we really like and believe has been kept up and taken care of. However they didn't want to part with the boat until March 2017 and then in the Caribbean.

We looked and inquired on many boats. (Dealing with many of the brokers was horrible) Then we went to Singapore and looked at a new 450ST. We are real novice, but it was what we wanted. So we made a offer and didn't budge. They finally agreed with us, with some conditions we could live with. So we put a 10% deposit down..
Wouldn't you know it! The next day we received a message from the 470 and they were in Australia and ready to leave the boat! We were a little uncomfortable with some of the issues between the dealer and Lagoon an felt we might have made a mistake buying a new Cat,

We asked if there could be a fee and we cancel the sale. (This just after 2 days) Not a chance.. they were having none of that!
So we are going to fit a 450ST sail in Asia for a year or 2, then start our journey! We need to install the following items and have been observing many of the post and suggestions here on the form.
1. Safety Equipment
2. First Aid
3. Water Maker
4. Solar and controller
5. Dive compressor & tanks
6. BBQ
7. VHF radio at helm
8. Satellite phone
9. Second Anchor

Things to consider
1. Small washing machine
2. Ice maker
3. Fishing gear
Any suggestions or ideas are very welcome.

Re: Lagoon 450S gets name "PROUD CAT"

Water Maker currently I have 180 lt/hour, ability to re-fill 350 lt tank (one side of L450) in 2 hours is good. When on the hook 350 lt will last us 8 days living not camping. Cloths Washing is what will chew through the water very quickly.

Solar and controller I have 2kW of Sun Power and 2 x 80 Flexmax 80 controllers. It is impossible to have to much but to little is another thing. The 120 amp output in Full sun is less important than the 30-50 amp output in overcast conditions.

BBQ Weber Q and small folding table to site wherever is convenient at the time. Even take to beach.

Second Anchor Already supplied as standard with Lagoon 450 (25kg Spade) What you need is a PRIMARY anchor, we fitted a Rocna 40 kg any good quality, modern design up around 40 kg will be good.

Small washing machine came as standard with mine, consider it well worth the space and money.

Ice maker We opted for an extra 100lt freezer makes ice as well as obvious other uses.

Re: Lagoon 450S gets name "PROUD CAT"

We purchased our 2014 450 from the same agent in Singapore (all went well) and kitted it out also in Spore for our cruising including many of the items that are on your list. We have a blog and much of its discussed there in the early days. Sailblogs.com/member/emeraldsea. You may email for specifics if you like.

We have a water maker from cruisero and it is great 170 litres an hour easy to run too.
Sunpower solar 3 x 327w panels with the outback mmpt80 running it.
Sat phone is hand held so we can take it on life raft with us.
Also use a weber q 2000 which use very little gas and are 100 times better than all the marine bbq which we removed.
All cast alloy bbq with stainless burner.
We added hella seahawk xlr spotlights off each rear quarter which light up the back of the cat and the stairs, they can be full beam or dimmed , 2 light intensity settings.

(For the OP) in Singapore, you can order them via Sunergy Solar Pte Ltd (Guan Lee Soh) at sales@sunergysolar.com.sg. If in Singapore his team will also do the complete hookup and setup of your MPPT charger.

I am in Oz so my contact probably is not going to do you much good in purchase of Sunpower Panels. If you are in Australia Don is the guy to talk to at Floating Impressions +61409784189

1-800 - SUNPOWER (1-800-786-7693) Head office is in California not far from you I guess so that may be the place to start.

Hi Paul. I am looking to upgrade my solar and also get the Flexmax 80A MPPT. How have you found it and where did you find space to install it on the L450?

Thanks, Dave

Re: Lagoon 450S gets name "PROUD CAT"

It would be really interesting to see some photos of the solar frame mounts, the location of the led spot lights, where does it seem most of the 450's are installing water makers and dive compressors?
Thanks for all the info! My learning curve is 90°! Keep it coming!

Cheers

John it was shipped to Singapore. I made the deal in euro but only put small deposit. Tonight I will exchange to euro and pay the balance if the euro is where I hope it to be. Got lucky with the UK move.

Re: Lagoon 450S gets name "PROUD CAT"

Hi Paul. I am looking to upgrade my solar and also get the Flexmax 80A MPPT How have you found it.

Been very happy with Flexmax 80's since installation have not had to go back to them, so after 2 years all good so far.

Where did you find space to install it on the L450?

The remote controller unit I originally had mounted in the the electrical cabinet in the salon, but to look at it required opening the door and sitting on the stairs which was a pain. So I moved it along with the Battery monitor, Inverter / charger control and generator control to the wall in the owners cabin so I could stand look and operate them easily.

What I ended up with
