Re: Lagoon 450 Windlass Quick,Dylan FAIL

We just rebuilt a Quick windlass motor (1400W). Only real problem was the brushes plus a good cleaning. Any competent alternator/starter repair place should be able to work on it (much easier to find than marine places). The Quick brushes are 12V copper-carbon brushes, typically from Bosch starters. We couldn't get the correct size in a timely manner (even Quick had no stock) so just got some slightly larger brushes and filed them down. Just make sure that whatever brushes get used are 12V copper-carbon, straight carbon brushes will tear up the motor in short order (the right brushes are very copper colored, straight carbon is charcoal grey). Again, if that's not familiar any auto electrical shop should be able to help you out.

If your brushes measure 9x13 (HxW) then they probably started out as 9x13x26 (but will be a lot shorter than 26 if worn out) and are Bosch #1007014100.
