Lagoon 450 Washer/Dryer installation

Hi all,

I just signed the purchase contract for a new 2012 Lagoon 450 (very excited!) and I am planning for some upgrades as it has minimal factory options installed.

What kind of washer/dryer does the factory install? What is the brand? Is it vented? Where does the vent go to?

I am trying to plan the installation.

Thank you.

Sorry but I can't answer that question. I do have a suggestion though. The washer/dryer combo you usually find on boats are not vented and will take about 2 or 3 hours to do a single small load of laundry. We installed a seperate washer and vented dryer. The washer is a 5 kilo unit and the dryer is a 7 kilo with high heat. These can be run together off the generator and take about 40 minutes to do a single fairly large load.

Most cruisers dry the laundry on the lifelines, which isn't bad. We just have so much of it that it's not practical. With a large cat you will probably have a fair amount of company/laundry. It doesn't take much more space to do both. You can take the vent, which is a flexable hose like at your home, and just put it out a hatch.

Palarran, thank you for the info. I will look into it.

Before I do something non-factory, I would like to know what the factory installs and how. I am sure someone has looked into it...

Splendide makes a washer/dryer combo either vented or non-vented...the vented one is the way to go from what I've read.

Hi,

We have the factory washer/dryer on our 2012 Lagoon 450. It is a 'Candy Alise GO 4 W'. It is vented to the forward cockpit. A normal wash is about an hour and dry about an hour. There is a fast 59 min wash/dry setting with a lighter load. Needs shore power or generator to operate.

I spent a lot of time crawling around trying to figure out all the through hull fittings. So far counted 30 and made a diagram. Then lifted the yacht and found several more I got to figure out.

You will LOVE the L450!

Cheers
Dave

Chuck, the vented Spendide is the one I am considering.

Dave, I was hoping for your answer as the vented washers work much better. Would it be possible to get a copy of that diagram you made? I am like you and, as I do not have the boat in my hands yet, I am full of questions...

Thank you!

Re: Lagoon 450 Washer/Dryer installation

We've had a Slendid for years and found it perfect for two or three persons. It does a great job in the wash. We were told by the factory that the biggest issue it overloading the dryer. Ours is in continuous use and has only had one issue that was quickly resolved. We usually hang the wash on a dedicated "wash line" that drys it quickly and without wrinkles in the sun, and it smells great. The only recommendation I would have is to always use a bit of fabric softener, makes the clothes less prone to wrinkles.

It seems that the vented Splendide is the way to go. I will order it.

Thank you all.

The factory installed WD on our L450 is a Splendide non vented. Worked well but died on month 13, one month after the warranty expired. Drying takes a long time. For those with vented, where do you run the venting to?

Re: Lagoon 450 Washer/Dryer installation

Our vent runs forward through the forward centre cockpit locker, along the port upper wall and into the forward cockpit well. I think it also has an additional blower fan in the cockpit locker to help airflow.

Where in the Lagoon 450 is the washer/dryer typically installed?
