What is cloudy weather?
It depends how much light comes through the clouds, between 10% and 50% of a sunny day I guess

thick dark clouds, i get 8-10 % of sunny weather with Victron panels. Always wondered what is Sunpower performance in such conditions but cant get quantifiable results on internet. Found some japanese panels that specialise in cloudy weather (different light wavelength) and difference is quite substantial in clouds, but less efficient in sunny.

This is the difference between the interiors. Can you paint the dark wood light?? Does all the wood have to come out?? Is there companies that do this?? Is there any cheap, easy, beautiful fixes.?

Julie, hi, if you love the boat but just don't like the interior colours, even after living with it for a while then the panels and cabinets can be painted. There is no need to remove anything or pay exorbitant prices to a "marine specialist", just find the best panel beater in town, preferably someone that doe's high end work,(there should be some in Coffs) and speak to them about repainting the interior panels and cabinets in the colour of your choice. For the best results you need to sand all that has to be painted, undercoat with an epoxy undercoat and sand again and then topcoat with a good polyurethane in the colour you want. If you are prepared to do the bulk of the prep following the advice of the painter then it should not be too expensive for a truly great result. If you feel that sanding and other prep is beyond or beneath you then the costs will rise. Wonders can be worked with a simple paint job.

Hi all, I'm hoping someone on the forum may be able to help.
A year ago our 450 was partially sunk by Irma in the BVI. Horizon is doing the repairs for me but a year on are struggling with replacing the entire starboard interior because of obtaining materials from Lagoon.
A couple of years ago I read a blog about an owner who had sourced an interior in customised laminate directly from Lagoon's subcontractor. Sadly I can't find the reference again (just when I need it!). Does anyone know who Lagoon use for their interior woodwork? My plan would be to get an entire hull interior shipped from them to the BVI as flat pack.
Any ideas or help will be gratefully received as we're losing hope of ever seeing our 450 repaired. Thank you

Rusnt: Sorry no help on the wood work. I imagine you’ve already posted on the Lagoon Owner’s Facebook page? Having just purchased rudder bearings (US$660 with freight to Aruba, L450) from Lagoon and paying about 5 times more than my local bearing supplier would charge (the boat is remote so I can’t take measurements and I can’t get the exact specs from Lagoon); I’m curious why you want factory components; unless you think they would send all the pieces cut and ready to throw together? By still, I can’t fathom it being cheaper than custom woodwork by a local carpenter. Possibly insurance constraints?

Very sorry for your situation. Would you share more about your experience if you feel you have noteworthy lesson learned?

sv Stella Maris: Thanks for the reply and apologies for the tardy response. I haven't tried the Lagoon owners forum. I'll have look for it.
As you'll have found on Aruba, when things go wrong you don't have a great choice of shipwrights to select from. In our case Horizon have the best team on the BVI but suffer from a labyrinthine ordering system at Lagoon combined with 6 week shipping to a remote island.
We are constrained by what the insurers will allow; curiously they seem happier paying a lot for original equipment rather than a custom repair which is regarded as an improvement and therefore argued about at length!
I had a few conversations with experienced Lagoon shipwrights who all concurred that any of the laminated panels that were submerged will delaminate any time up to 18 months later so all of the affected woodwork need replacing. For our boat that means everything in the starboard hull!
The problem we have is matching the undamaged side to the one to be repaired. We did look at using other laminates but it proved impossible to find suitable products. The other problem with Lagoon is the number of edge mouldings they use and which are virtually impossible to replicate.
The construction method for Lagoon is for the subcontractor to deliver the completed cabin and bathroom units which are fitted to the bottom half of the hull before the top hull/deck/saloon roof is lowered onto and sealed to the bottom. So most of the reconstruction will be easier if we start with an unassembled set of units.
All in all we decided it was better to order from Lagoon. However that was a year ago and we are still waiting. (Jenneau have yet to supply any parts at all to the BVI!!?).
I read last year that someone had not liked the selection of finishes offered by Lagoon and managed to find the subcontractors who agreed to make an interior in the finish they wanted though I don't remember if it was installed on the construction line or retrofitted.

Of course, I'd rather if Lagoon chose stronger Goose neck (is that the correct english name for this piece ?) for their future units. I know that my spanish dealer shared this with the factory team in France, although these wouldn't admit any weakness with the original piece of course.

Our factory gooseneck held on with 8 rivets fell off enroute down the Pacific off Baja Mexico (a story in itself). We first tapped for 5/16 bolts. Then later added a boom retainer and noticed its connection to the mast was far superior. We ordered an extra mast connection and replaced the original gooseneck. Feel safe now.

Totally different l450 (or other) improvement question, from someone paranoid about getting spoiled diesel from water, one way or another ...

Did anyone installed one of these to protect water coming from the airlock into the tank ?

Here are some videos of our new solar install. We used Solara Power M walk on/non skid panels. We also used scanstrut deck glands for all of the through deck fittings. All work was done with the help and expertise by Steve Whitbeck of Reliant Yacht Service in Punta Gorda, FL. He also installed our Mastervolt Lithium system, and as you can see, it’s a beautiful install. We used one existing Outback controller for the 6x 110w panels on the foredeck. One existing outback for the 3x140w on the hard too roof, and 2 individual Victron controllers for the 110w and 140w panel on either side of the traveler. There are 11 panels total for approximately 1300w, which more than covers our daily usage. If I didn’t already have the Outback charge controllers, I would have put in an individual victron controller for each panel.
