That pic looks rather familiar!?!

FWIW tho, we'd suggest rotating the panels 90 degrees, so the narrow ends face fore and aft...leaves room for more panels and provides greater shade below...

The simple answer is there is no room, look at Roetter's pictures above.The port side has the large opening hatch and the starboard side has the main sheet, the traveler control lines and head sail furler line. There is no room at the inn.



The across the aft set up also has the advantage of creating shade and weather protection across the aft walkway, as well as a good place to put your fishing rod rack. I have also attached two roll up shade blinds to the solar panel frame that drop down to the aft life lines and give shade across the aft area when required.

Hey Don, all good up here in Cairns at present.

Was quoted over $600 AUD by a sail maker to make a pair of shades for the back. These are 70% garden roller shades from Bunnings, less than $100 each on sale and have been in use for 2 1/2 years and working well. Added some shot chord to hold them down to deck, from memory we cut about a meter off because did not need them that long. Just starting to see some corrosion on the metal poles at the bottom of blind, if it becomes an issue will replace with wooden pole.

The new layout is simply not the one I am looking for (kitchen to big, no real charttable, less space). I need a real charttable as the one in the previous versions of the L450.

My dealer told me that a modification could be possible if I find a company which is "allowed" to buy original wood parts from the Lagoon factory. Unfortunately I did not find any neither did my dealer.

A few years ago user Kinch posted those great photos showing a modification of the interior with the original woods (page 2).

Maybe someone knows a company that could do this work for me.

Rolf's design drawings earlier in this thread are excellent and just pass to a stainless engineer. I just shortened and added the loop on top. Also need to shorten the lower plate just a little because of where it hits the downward curve. Make your bolts 60mm long (I used 50mm). Very easy to install about 5 hours to do both sides.

Hi Dave,

Could you access the stern padeyes from there? I am wondering if they got any backing plates? If not I would like to modify them but I have no idea from where I could access them - I am still waiting for my L450 to be delivered so I cannot check this myself.

Apologies for barging in, we sail L400 not L450, but I couldn't resist to put in my opinion:
1. Galley is never too large if you plan to spend nights onboard (as opposed to short daysailing outings).
2. Last 6 years, never used the navigation table for charts. All work was done on main chartplotter and backup PC (installed in owner's cabin). About 10,000 nm all over the Med.

My opinion only and your preferences may differ.

Hate the yanmar saildrive raw water sea cock? Yes the design ensures that it will jam as the threads sit in sea water. An easy replacement was with a Hansen valve, sooo easy to operate now:

Consider a seperate seacock of greater flow for the engine raw water and likely you will find with improved flow much greater water pump life. Is a well know improvement. Talk with experienced marine fitters.
