Lagoon 420 or 450S

I am just about to place an order with Lagoon to replace my Jaguar 36ft cat.I cannot decide on which to order a 420 or 450S.I own my mooring , aircon is a have to have and I will want 4 cabins for all my kids.I will not be blue water cruising ,I am a fair weather sailor and will have cat delivered by professional skipper to local destinations.I am just not good enough for long distances(too much time spent in the office).I imagine with discounts on the 450S the price difference will not be so great. Is the difference in size substantial and is there a great difference in ability to dock.I guess my cat will be a bit of a condomaran for family holidays and a bit of fishing.I hate to offent the purist but we all have different needs and aspirations.

Re: Lagoon 420 or 450S

I saw the 42 and 450 side by side in Annapolis recently. Yes I the the 450 is significantly bigger. From what I have seen the 450 is about USD80k more than the 42. For what you are doing why don't you consider the flybridge model?

I agree with John Holbrook. I love the flybridge option.

My vote would be for the L450S any day over the L42

A family of 4 has a lot of STUFF.

The L42 will be to small for your family.

I'm actually looking at the 450S for myself because it's just the wife and me and we will be doing some long distance stuff. But I can see why people love the F version.

The L450S is so much better for a 2ble handing couple.

You both can drive or cook and still see that the other one has not fallen overboard.

You both can carry a conversation an do your job at the same time.

The L450F is very DISCONNECTED for 2 people.

I had never thought about that. Nice insight.

The Flybridge model would be great but I am in South Africa and shade from intense sun is very important.

Re: Lagoon 420 or 450S

Shade on the flybridge is supplied by a large Bimini or hardtop.

Re: Lagoon 420 or 450S

We went a little bigger with the Lagoon 52F which was delivered new to us this past summer. We live the boat and we have 2 little kids so we needed the space. I would go with the 450 and it's personal preference on the fly bridge. We find that when we are sailing everyone is hanging out on the fly bridge. In reality, on passage we don't do much other than hang out, look for Dolphins and the kids munch on snacks. We retired a few weeks ago and we are taking the kids out of school for a year or two so we needed more room. Otherwise we would have bought the 450. By the way, I love how the boat sails!!!!
