Lagoon 400 S-2

Hi all I just ordered a lagoon 400 s-2. My name is Andrew from singapore. I hope to take delivery in around 6 months.

I hope to meet more of you forummers who have the same or similar craft.

I look forward to your guidance and advice.

I generally intend to do sailing around south east Asia. Hope to meet like minded members or mentors!

This thread is dedicated to the lagoon 400 S-2 and not the Normal lagoon 400

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

Does anyone know what's the sea faring rating or ocean going rating for this model?

Why would it be any different from the 400?

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

I can't seem to find any indication for the ocean going capability for the 400.

Anyone?

Re: Lagoon 400

On our L400 (not S-2) there is an affixed plaque that states the boat to be Cat A with 12 persons on board with total allowed load of 3,555 Kg which number includes the weight of the crew, (that of course grows with the age of the crew...).
The plaque is located in the cockpit at the side of one of the settees.

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

Europen RCD classes:
A) Open Ocean, waves > 4m, Wind strength > Beaufort 8
B) Offshore, waves <=4m,Wind strength Beaufort <= 8
C) Inshore, waves <=2m, Wind strength Beaufort <= 6
D) Sheltered waters, waves <=.3 with temporary ability to withstand <=.5m, Wind strength Beaufort <= 4

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

And finally:
I have sailed the boat in a sea worse B8 & waves >4 meters.
The boat felt better than (most) of the crew aboard.
Hope it helps.
Have a good sailing

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

How do boats like catamarans flip N land on its back?

Anyone can think of a scenario?

Re: Lagoon 400 S-2

That depends on the relative direction of the waves to your course.
We have crossed the Biscay with following waves of 4m and more, and everything was nice and easy. On the other hand, this summer in the Med, we had to deal with waves about 2.5-3 meters directly on the bow (we couldn't change direction) and the boat pounded heavily, until we dropped speed to about 3Kn or less and than it felt safe. Just climbing up and sliding down again. Even waves of 1-1.5m on the bow are highly unpleasant, although it is more nuisance of jumping and pounding than real danger. Once you get the waves behind the beam, it becomes a joy ride.

So you order an expensive item like a 400 and start thinking & asking questions after that decision?
Just wondering...

No worries, she'll treat you fine

I will take delivery of my s-2 lagoon 400 sometime in June 2013. I intend to do short jaunts from Singapore (where I live) to Thailand and parts of Indonesia during my freetime. I would be glad of any companions that I might have both in crew and with other boats.

How are other lagoon 400 users faring? Could you share some of the joys and downs of lagoon 400 ownership?
