400: Lagoon 400

As some maybe remember I mentioned in an earlier thread that our front starport window was doing a very annoying quicking noise in the slightest sideway motion of the boat.
The window was replaced now and clued in properly. There is no noise whatsoever coming from the window any more. It feels like a different boat now, so peacefull.
Just wanted to let you know that fact, not to accept the argument that it is normal on catamarans.
After the dealer, after long and hard discussions, finaly forwarded the complain to Lagoon, they reacted fast and pro-active by immediately sending a new window by airfreight!

or maybe the hole where the window sitts is not cut correct. ?

have seen on Hanse boats that the hole where the window is to be places is cut totaly wrong, But they just put in a lot sica, ++ to make it fitt.

the problem is when during production there is a part of the window not completly covered with the glue. The little part which is not glued to the frame makes the noise as it has little room to move. It looks like Lagoon knows exactly about it otherwise they would not have a solution so fast.

Thanks HanaFe,

The Facnor FX4500 has a much higher safe working load than the Harken 1899 (Maxi Staysail) furler - 9900 lb vs 3000 lb. Looks like I opt for a code zero with a low end wind range or go back to the drawing board....

Hi lazell! Nice to meet you. Yes I have read your posts and if it works we would love to meet you. We are currently stuck in beautiful Hervey Bay tho, waiting out this gale, may get out of here by Wednesday then planning on sailing through the Whitsundays on our way home to Port Douglas, Katsumi's new home. Keep in touch, would be great to see two 400's next to eachother! Currently we are in the marina at Fisherman's Wharf with a pretty 380 next door, small world for Lagoons!

This weekend the starport engine suddenly stopped working, just before we wanted to head off our mooring. It did not get any fuel anymore. The same problem we had a couple of months ago off shore on our port engine.
This time we could locate the problem immediately as it was the same cause. The fuel suction tube in the diesel tank was broken. I attached a picture for better illustration. As it is the second time already I guess it is a weak point on the L 400. I advise to check the tubes as it can be very dangerous if you loose your engine in the wrong moment.
Had anyonw a similiar problem?

P.S. We got a quik fix by the local Yanmar agent as he made a substitute tube out of copper in his workshop. He saved our weekend.

How confident are you that hull #93 is the start of model year 2011?

I'm looking at a new Lagoon 400 w/comfort pack (hull #90) and the dealer claims its a 2011 model. Apparently this was a cancelled order that recently arrived. I'm also surprised if this just arrived, why it has an older hull # to yours.

This is all verbal information from the sales person. So this could all change if asked to put on paper.

Please advise.

Hello Hammer, the 2011 model updates as I understand started with hull 93, more timber in the saloon area leather bound wheel, the overhead cupboard is one piece etc. small improvements but worthwhile. I think the updates are a evolving thing, guess all you can do is ask for some pictures of the latest improvements and compare with the Sydney craft. Interestingly I occasionally check out the French Lagoon web site and note the latest video on the 400 is still the original and shows nothing of the improvements. Regards Peter

I too have continued to use my L400 through the winter, but in the UK.

However, we have spent many weekends in the marina with both our heating systems running flat out. But we still felt like we got away from work, and down to the boat.

Went out this weekend on the Solent (UK) but motored all weekend because the wind was less than 7 knots for both days. My wife was happy to motor. I just ate well, drank too much, and went unshaven for two days. Lovely.
