I agree with the bad position for the gauges. Looks like you would have to get down on your knees to see them.

Re: Lagoon 39

By the track on the foredeck is there a self tacking jib arrangement?

Yes. That's what you are seeing.

Re: Lagoon 39

Magenta, thanks for taking photos. I think it looks like a winner for Lagoon. I'm sure they will be placing several orders at this show.

Did you by chance see a spec sheet to see what options are on this boat?

My thoughts are that I am very interested in the polars or at least an impression of the sailing characteristics with the new mast placement and self tacking jib. I'm also interested in performance under power as I am surprised by the decision for 20hp motors with only a 29hp upgrade. This boat is huge and has a longer water line length than the Lagoon 400, which comes with 29hp with a 40hp upgrade(Most are ordered with the 40hp so I don't know how the 400 performs with the 29hp). It's either a mistake or they made the 39 super light and slippery.

Overall I'm impressed enough to say I would choose this over a new 400.

Re: Lagoon 39

With such a large foretriangle that track is very restrictive. Also it's putting the clew at cabin roof height, interesting!

Re: Lagoon 39

Foot of headsail is around 20 feet, the track is around 4 feet either side of centre.
VERY tight sheeting angles possible, but off wind you'd want another block on the toerail if there was one.........

Could put a block off the midship cleat or just tie off the cleat itself for downwind

Re: Lagoon 39

Well of course BUT the point is what are they proposing, the design has no centreboards yet the sheeting angles are incredibly close........

Their interiors have been getting cheaper on every release. However, in this case I think there may be some design consideration in this. The whole saloon has gone "square", creating an ever-increasing "condo-like" feeling inside the boat.

Most people have square cabinets and furniture in their home, as well as square corners in the rooms with flat windows, and it seems that is the goal on this new boat as well.

Re: Lagoon 39

mag, usually they have a boat show deal, some discount off the price or a dinghy and motor thrown in. No deal you heard of on the 390?

Re: Lagoon 39

Thanks for sharing your photos Magenta.

I too have issues with where the engine RPM gauges are located? It's as if, Lagoon wanted the perfect viewing height for the gauges while you're in the cockpit.
