Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

I have heard that you have to sacrifice one water tank if you get the lagoon install - but i have 4 tanks and the dessalator duo 100l per hour - if there is a x - vale to fill the port tanks Id love to know where it is

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

guess so - I bought the boat 2nd hand and don't have any water maker paperwork. Amazes me this as there is absolutely no reason to lose a tank - at least on owners config

The idea from Lagoon was to fill only one tank so you can flush back with

Water from the Watermaker.

That´s the reason they did not connect the other tanks to the watermaker

The new system is a better solution
Interesting, ours is a 2011 build and the cross over valve and pipes look like original factory fitment, but maybe PO put it in later, or it was an option.

L450 2012. Watermaker diverts to either port or starboard through selector in water cupboard. Standard fit. Watermaker absolutely essential on L450 as easy to use 200ltr plus per day.

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

I guess it would be nice to have a fourth tank, but I like the water maker where it is. We have a 30 gallon bladder if we absolutely need the extra water. The bladder also goes in the dinghy so we can fill the dinghy at the dock and transfer to the boat with an in line pump, beats carting jugs. Of course if the dock has no water then that could be a problem!

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

A simple ball valve plumbed from the fresh water manifold to the non-filled water tank. This gives the ability to turn on and transfer from one side to the other. Do not do what I did and have the tank selector switched to the tank you are trying to fill. Pump ran for an hour while I kept looking at the overflow to see if it was filled.

Just recirculating the water in the same tank.

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

Problem i see with the desolator factory option now: it is now only a 220V version from dessalator, and not the DUO100. Having both options of supply seems better.

Dear Darksyde,
Could you share more details and pictures on the installation ? Is this the area in front of the batteries park ?
How easy it was to install?

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

My Dessalator Duo is under the floor in Pt Fwd Berth (which is now my office). Remote is in the Salon next to chart table. Quite happy with it so far. Works great, and I'm glad we also have all 4 tanks. Have a change over valve to fill either tank.

Would recommend fitting after market and keep all 4 tanks. There are times the tankage is very usefull. Can't always run the watermaker, and even in some marina's, the water is NOT potable.

When I do fill tanks from shore, it goes through a particle and charcoal filter first.

For reference, the washing machine is a water hog. It chews through it.
Great to have, just something to watch.

Regards

mark.

Re: L450 F Fresh Water tankage

Zanusi(Electrolux) 7kg front load washer on normal cycle uses about 70 litres over two hours. On short cycle it used half that for 30 min for 3.5 kg load.
Water maker makes 100 l per hour so over two hours with genny running you have charged the batteries, put in net 130 litres of water, heated the water, done the washing (air dried) and used approx 5 litres of diesel = $3.00 (in USA ) double that for Caribbean.
