Is there room for a scuba tank compressor on a Lagoon38?

Is there enough room to put a scuba tank compressor on board without having to displace other important equipment like a water maker?

Yeah in the forward beam locker there's room to fit a small petrol compressor like a baby Bauer

Should also fit into the bow compartment where we had ours on a Lagoon 410. Same hatch size so no real difference

While we have a 450 this may not be the same for the 440. I've installed a Bauer Jr in the stbd sugar scoop behind the engine where there is ample space and keeps the weight aft - where you prefer it on a cat. I built a base of 22mm marine plywood, 3M5200 glued in and the 2-phase electric motor is a plugged into the stbd cabin wall socket. Easy.

Thanks for the information. What I'd really like is a 440 but the 38 is much more affordable so I'm trying to determine if I can shoehorn a compressor on board. Agree that having the weight aft would be better. Probably would prefer electric as I understand it's quitter than gas/deisel.

Hello Risky Scheme
I have seen Steve's (Emerald Seas) system and it does not take up much space and should be workable on a 380

Thanks Wayne. Is yours electric? If not, how much noise does it make and how long does it take to fill a tank?

Re: Is there room for a scuba tank compressor on a Lagoon38?

RiskyScheme. TOT, a friend of mine, is referring to the Bauer installed in my 450. Its electric, 220V single phase and is plugged into the aft cabin outlet via a sealed bulkhead gland. Powered by the genset. Yes, its a bit noisy, but not unbearably so, most compressors are but less so than a fuel powered one - and no fumes to worry about. We keep the engine room door open for ventilation, cooling. Fill time is approx 20min for a 80cuft tank from empty.
