Funny how a video of me in 'Budgie Smugglers' playing with my balls can change an image so fast...

I used to be a 'nice guy..'

Wendi, sorry if anything I said was discouraging. I certainly dont want to discourage you from your dream. It's hard on this forum to know what each poster's particular knowledge and situation is for sure. Heck, We get posts like " buying a boat in july, want to sail off in the fall... never sailed but...saw this 45 footer for $10000...."
Most here want to help, but often you will get pretty straightforward, non softened statements. These are just tools to put in your toolbox to decide what and how to do it.
As mentioned before, anytime you put yourself on a "must do" schedule, it often ends with trouble, even in a boat you've had for years...
Did I read this wrong in your origianl post? "... I really need to secure ONE or more good crew who will get us across alive and smiling.
And if there is a Captain...."
That sounds like 2 or 3 unknown people to me....

It's the same old story. No one ever remembers all the wonderful things a guy does in his life but if he screws just one damn goat....

I'm with Vasco, as wendi puts it - "she is buying a boat, and has sailed, and has much sailing experience, and is employing a skipper to deliver the boat, and will join the delivery trip, can't see to much wrong with that.

Re: I'm in the ARC+ for November!

dont be downhearted,if i can build a catamaran shell from scratch,to sea going vessel in 5 weeks!
4 weeks is plenty to get a 2year old vessel ready for crossing the atlantic!

With respect we got that, reread post 25 and 34 for example. Wendi's OP was interpreted to mean she didn't have much sailing experience by several including myself. It was misinterpreted because we assumed most experienced sailors generally don't seek further training. Jeesh, this is like talking to children.

Wendi. Have a wonderful adventure! Only suggestion is having a plan B in case the boat requires more time for prep.

Well done Mary Flower. A real answer to the actual question.

THAT is what this forum is about.

I missed the part where Wendi asked you or we to interpret or assume anything.
