Help Needed with Solar Power

I have a lagoon 440 2010 model, and want to install solar panels. I need some design drawings or pics of the installation, if any body can help.
The next thing I need to do is to inclose my cockpit area, but again need dimestions and pics.
Can you order this from lagoon?

Re: Help needed with solar power

I have one of the Dedicated Marine hard tops on my Lagoon 500. The thing is great. The did a super quality job with the instillation of the hard top. It provides a great place from which to work on the sails.
Tons of room for solar panels, no need to duplicate and complicate your life with a rack on the back of the boat, just use the roof of the hard top.
The people were great to work with. Can not recommend them more highly.

Re: Help needed with solar power

Here's ours...2 x SunPower E20's (327W@) with an Outback Flexmax 60 MPPT; they work a treat!

We also, however, just supplied 4 x SunPower E20 panels now installed on an L450 with the panels oriented north-south, rather than our east-west style. The L450 is a bit beamier, of course, but now that we've seen the pics of this later installation, we are confident it could also be done on a L440...with four times the power!

Depending on where you're located, we may be able to supply your panels as well...or we'll do anything we can to otherwise assist.

Hi, I have 440 with 6 x 90 solar panels on a tilting frame coupled with 4 x wind generators, custom built in the UK,gives up to 38 amps of solar an hour and around 8 amps from the wind, great system and easy to use, I have the design if you need it but will not be back on the boat until Nov 9th

Re: Help needed with solar power

The best advice on solar installations I have seen is here:

HandyBob's Blog « Making off grid RV electrical systems work

It's very wordy but also very informative. He won't tell you 'how to do it' because there is no one way to do it (every boat/rv etc. will have different requirements to take into consideration) however he will tell you the things you need to consider and, perhaps more importantly when it comes to solar installations, what NOT to do! Well worth the read.

Re: Help needed with solar power

I recently Had a Hardtop Put on my Lagoon 380 as well as an arch with sling seat and Sanyo hit 220 v solar panels, The top was the most professional job I have seen in my 20 years around boats and very lightweight and strong as well. The Cost of the Hardtop. $ 65.00 a square ft. Can be shipped any where.
I did the install myself.
Please Message me if you want more details. My wife is currently finishing up the enclosure and I will sent you a pic if you are interested.

Cheers \;

re: Help Needed with Solar Power

Hi John
The top looks great, can you share the dimensions with me please?

Is it strong enough to walk on?

Would it fit a 450?

Thanks
Wayne

re: Help Needed with Solar Power

Wayne; It is more than strong enough to walk on, Have had myself (235lb) and my wife up there at the same time.
Top is 165 in x 96 in.

We have a Lewmar 78 Pilot hatch over the helm.
It is wired for two fans and 2 led lights.

Hope that helps.
John

re: Help Needed with Solar Power

whether it will fit a 450? The top can be made to any dimensions you want, each one is custom made. If you are interested I think I have a drawing for a 450 top I can send you.
