Fuel Transfer Pumps Lagoon 440.....

We have a fuel transfer pump mounted in the space above the Stb engine, the Generator and Stb engine both draw from the Stb tank so Stb tank fuel usage is highest..

Questions:-
1) Is this setup in place to facilitate fueling up to from stb side only so you don't have to drag hoses over to filler on port?

2) Has anyone set theirs up to transfer from port to stb to make up for heavier use on stb side?

Their appears to be a high level alarm on port side with a cutout in the circuit. So i will have to bypass this to convert this setup to an equalising system rather than a complicated filling the tanks from one hole setup....

Re: Fuel Transfer Pumps Lagoon 440.....

The transfer pump is usually set up to allow transfer between either tank. Usually you will transfer from port to stb if you use the genset a lot. There should be a switch or valve to select w/ direction you are transferring. Some (myself included) have moved the racors up in that same space getting them out of the engine comp. so the filters can more easily be changed at sea. If you do this you can also then transfer fuel through a racor thus polishing before it enters the other tank.

Re: Fuel Transfer Pumps Lagoon 440.....

Thanks, Seems ours has a high tank alarm working off the VDO gauges, this automatically shuts it down when tanks full. I think ill simplify it a bit preferring to do a manual transfer and just observe gauge.
Appreciate the idea re:Filters/Racors we may as well try to extract any bits... Cheers Frank
