Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

Can anyone tell me the Ohms range for a Lagoon Cat at the fuel sender???
There's 2 ranges 10 to 180 Ohm and 240 to 30 Ohm.
I'm assuming all Lagoons are the same but I have a 410.

Thanks Steve

If its a Rochester Gauge the ohms are labeled on the sender gauge.

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

Thanks Gudgeon, I'll check the gauge for a manufacture this weekend. I'm pretty sure the sender is a VDO but I ran a resistence test and came up with 3 ohms which didn't help. I'm going to test the grounds and connections at the gauges so will see if there is any more info.

Who made the gauges? Check with the gauge manufacturer and they can tell you the appropriate sender.

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

The original senders on my 2003 Lagoon 380 were VDO with a range of 10-180 Ohm. One sender had a broken wire that I successfully replaced by soldering in a new wire and the resistor circuit board is starting to show some significant wear so I'm planning on putting 2 spare senders in my spare parts inventory.

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

BlueWater Thank you!
I verified your readings on Saturday by purchasing 90 Ohms of resisters for $5 and jumping out the sender. Got a reading of 1/2 a tank so I now know the gages and wiring are correct.
Gudgeon, I plan on purchasing the WEMA senders (and a cool drink holder!) today. I like the fact their sender doesn't have a swing arm, something that doesn't make sense on a boat in the first place. Thanks for the info and responses!!

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

BlueWater one more question.
When you pulled the sensor did it have a backing ring inside the plastic tank? Also a gasket inside?

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

Buy two resisters and swap them out to test the deflection of the meter (gauge). That's what I did to confirm the 30 - 220 ohms for my Catalina. It's good to test the meter anyhow, and resistors are less than a dollar at Radio Shack.

Re: Fuel Sender Ohms for Lagoon

Just a quick update to 410 (and probably most of the others) Lagoon owners. The WEMA Senders are installed and working perfectly. The Fuel tanks do NOT require the backing rings inside the tanks. The Fuel tanks have molded in backing rings and bolt right in. Ohm readings should be 10-180 Ohms and in my case 9" tube lengths. The original VDO sender had "145" stamped on the variable resister inside (what a great place to put the model #) and getting them out was the tough part of the job (5 mins). No interference issues at the wiring terminal on the sender to floor hatch. Again thanks for the replies.
