General Info: Cruising in Greek waters

We have kept our Lagoon 450 in Croatia for the last 5 years spending on average 7-8 weeks a year down there. Now, with the huge price hike in the cruising licence, we are considering moving to Greece for 2019.

With small children, we like calm waters, coves for swimming etc. Marinas are not important except for embarking and disembarking friends who come and stay.

Would appreciate any advice on where to start plus any ideas for a marina as a base.

An ICC license or equivalent is required by Croatia and Montenegro, mine cost approximately $500 USD. But I think you’re referring to the cruising permit, which depends on the length of the boat and amount of time you stay.

What are the average annual costs for a berth in Croatia for a 12m cat beside marina fees (cruising permit, lights fee, tourist tax etc.)? I read something about a vignette of around 150€ (1050 kuna), is this for a calendar year or a 12 month period from the day issued? I am planning to berth my cat in Croatia for the next winter season, but have no clue about the additional costs beside the marina fees.

A 15m cat will cost 7,700 (£800+/-) Kuna for 12 months. It gets progressively more expensive per month as the period gets shorter. Recollection is that a week is £150.

There is something else on top which I cannot remember.

I've not seen many calm waters and coves in the Ionian side of Greece at least. It's not like the Balererics where you can't pee in a direction without hitting a sheltered anchorage. Most in Greece are open to the weather, open to the swell or both, and are usually over 10ms deep with limited swing room. When a southerly comes in it's even worse. Even the town quays are well protected.

It's not blessed with a massive amount of marinas either. Afterall it's a small country. The people are wonderful, and the scenery is great but it does have it's downsides.
