Re: Charter Lagoon 440 Takes on water and flips
On the Lagoon 450 there is a hammer at the stern of the boat near the life raft position, that is how you would access the escape hatches from the outside should you flip the boat.

I know this is not universally true. Mine has a bar that will fall off if inverted and handles on the outside to open. Actually, I thought all of them were designed like this.
I'd also agree with the theory that the boat didn't flip but rather rolled to it's current position. Also, IMO, it will probably sink before it's salvaged. We will see.
One final opinion is that there should never be a reason to open an escape/ingress hatch except if the boat is inverted. Period.

Re: Charter Lagoon 440 Takes on water and flips
Our Lewmar ones are the same as the deck hatchs with access both sides, i have seen the ones with the bar which would also work well.

I assumed you keep them in locked position. I never saw the one with the bar; good safety feature.

OK, makes sense. The Lagoon 39 at the last Düsseldorf boatshow had no hammer on the outside (and no sales person wanted to talk to me, but that is another story).
My Mahe has the same escape hatches as Palarran with a bar. I doubt it will fall off when inverted so we always keep the bar off (and the hatch unlocked) unless we leave the boat for longer periods.

Re: Charter Lagoon 440 Takes on water and flips
If you guys are worried about hatches breaking or being left open sinking your boat, you can always trade up to a mono. No hatches near the waterline on them 😇

Great! Let's do another "cats flip, monos sink" thread.

Where do you put four bikes on board L400?

Re: Charter Lagoon 440 Takes on water and flips
There is a Lagoon 450 in front of me an it looks like it could fit many bikes.
Looking at it more I've come to the conclusion that it was designed inside out.
