Change for this years model

I just checked out our new 450 in France. This is what I found was new compared to the 2012 model:

1. Backing plates under docking cleats. At least the fwd and aft cleats now have good size backplates instead of the tiny washers. I already had the plates made for the new boat.

2. Mastervolt MasterView Easy control panel - This is a super-duper battery monitor. It has a touch screen, displays voltage, amps, amp-hours, etc. It also display deepest SOC ever, lowest and highest voltage ever, how many times it measured over 100A, 200A, 500A. Apparently, this can be used to control all kinds of other devices too, such as generator auto start. Some of the functions are locked out. I assume Lagoon installed it to fend off claims for dead batteries.

3. SD60 sail drive - I posted this in a separate thread. Vibrations at idle.

4. Flimsy dead-bolt locks to hold up the table storage in the cockpit roof. First thin I will change.

5. Raymarine e125 MFD instead of E120W

6. Raymarine ITC5 instrument transducer converter. One converted for Speed, Temperature, Depth, Wind, Rudder Angle, Fluxgate Compass. A lot less clutter behind the nav-staion.

7. New sliding cockpit door lock. The previous one was really finicky. The whole door assembly appears a little more solid. Time will tell.

Looks great, congratulations. Lets hope the SD60's are better.
Yeah I would be worried about the cockpit table landing on my head as well, thats an accident waiting to happen !
Bon Voyage

Lagoon has already sold more than 300 of these 450s in just over 2 years. Hardly a 1% exotic.

So you are assuming only 30,000 boats of any size or shape are sold per year?

How many of these 300 are for re-equipping charter fleets under the French subsidy scheme ie commercial use and how many are actually for direct private ownership and use?
Interested in if you know the breakdown.
Cheers,
Mac

New cruising boats? Way less than 30,000. Even way less than 10,000. This is the cruisers forum, after all.

All charter boats are privately purchased. I don't see a scheme there unless you want to call what the charter companies are doing to lure the owners into this, a scheme. I would support that.

Semantics at its best, I am differentiating between those demonstrably and categorically purchased for private use and those put into charter fleet replacement, ie commercial use for a usual 5 year period.
Not all charter boats are privately purchased, those that are owned by LLCs, PTY LTDs [[companies], trading partnerships etc even whose shares are not publicly traded are still not regarded as private vessels by any tax law I'm familiar with.
If you are unfamiliar with the French Government's 5 year incentive schemes, so be it. I have not checked in the last year but they were quite lucrative to a certain set of investors.
I could also highlight the number of boats bought and owned by registered business entities that are used exclusively for private purposes, usually a tax dodge of some kind but I am not including them in the question I asked, which was "how many were charter fleet replacements".
Cheers,
Mac

Yes, who cares. This discussion got side tracked when one person earlier, who has benefitted previously from his own comments and questions in CF, decided that there was a price limit above which we cannot discuss the yacht and so he tried to kill the discussion. CF would struggle as an excellent forum to ask, comment and learn if subtle censorship like this was applied.

Thanks for the update Rolf. I collect my L450/304 mid-January. Can't wait! I'm hope the best news will be the replacement SD60s - anyone out there with any feedback on these yet?
