Can you convert freezer to refer on 500?

we have 2 freezers now on our Lagoon 500, would like one to be a fridge. we have turned it down as low as possible but it still freezes. Anyone have any ideas on how to change this if possible?

You do not state what type of freezer it is, but in general, the thermostat controls for freezers are different than those for fridges. You may be able to change that out to obtain a fridge.

But difficult to know without knowing what type of freezer it is.

Re: Can you convert freezer to refer on 500?

If this is a Frigoboat freezer with an aluminum evaporator plate, then it will have a mechanical thermostat in a blue housing, and this is for a freezer only. You can purchase a refrigerator mechanical thermostat, in a white housing, from a Frigoboat dealer, or try adjusting the range to see if you can tweak it to be a refrigerator control. To do this, remove the mechanism from the housing, and look into the interior of the assembly where you'll see a small torx-head screw. Turning that one way or the other will alter the range, but I can't recall which way is which, so you have to do it by trial and error. Make sure the system is de-powered when you do this.
If you do manage to tweak your t/stat, or install a replacement one, you may have some problems with condensation, as the evaporator plate will now be over-sized and unable to maintain a coating of frost and will simply sweat. If this proves to be a nuisance, covering some of the evaporator surface area with stick-on insulation from a hardware store will improve matters.
Hope this helps.

The answer is YES. You can order the part for your Frigonautica freezer needed through Great Water Marine Systems in Fairhaven Ma at 866-209-6132. You need Frigonautica part #000022 for a refer thermostat to replace the freezer thermostat. Cost about $90 delivered. Doug

Some mechanical thermostats have a rough adjustment screw.
I converted a small fridge compressor/evaporator to a freezer by that method.
