Air Conditioning Lagoon 420

Can one of you kind and sharing Lagoon owners inform me what size air conditioner you have in your 420 or similar and where the main unit, return air vents, etc are located. Also how effective is it and is it 12 or 240 volts and if 12 volts what current draw does it take. Thanks in advance.

Re: Air Conditioning Lagoon 420

I can give you information about the factory A/C installation in the 400S2 owners version, 42000btu, 4 units, one unit under each berth and one in the salon, all 4 are 220V, running off the generator (Onan 8kVA) or dedicated shore power cord. There are 2 water intakes with a 220V inlet water pumps and 4 outgoing throughhulls. 3 A/C units use the port pump, the owners cabin is separate. The temp sensors are under the berths near the air intakes and under the seat in the salon, the control units are mounted somewhere, at the hanging lockers, vanity desk, chart table, there are a lot of fuses, 2 for the generator, one for the shore power cord, one per intake pump and one for each separate A/C unit. It is a mess and waste of storage.

We have revised the 220V installation and can now run one or 2 A/C units on the inverter and LFP battery too. All other option remain in place, we do use the transfer switch of the Quattro, so we can even run power assisted A/C on the normal shore power cord.

Re: Air Conditioning Lagoon 420

Hi. I have a 420 and I can tell you what came in my 4 cabin. 1 16000 btu in the salon and 1 each 8000 btu in each cabin. They all work great until you see 95+ degree heat here in north carolina. Mine only seems to to keep the salon 10 degrees cooler. I'm trying to figure out why that is. AC guys tell me the unit is doing all it is capable of. Not sure I believe it.

Thanks, Joesail
I order 3 units this week (frigomar units) 1 16,000 btu for the saloon and two 10,000 btu units for the forward rooms. I will let you know how it works out.
