Sydney to Fiji

Hi I'm a 25 year old Irish lad trying to get my wooden Van de Stadt (1986) to Fiji. I myself am not scared of the journey even thou I have a lot to learn but since this would be my first passage it would be much safer with a more experienced sailer or at least someone to help keep watch. I'd be ready to leave in months but my visa isn't up till April and if I'm not ready by then I can extend my visa so my options are open. Another route I was thinking was to head all the way up to Darwin and then a short jump to Indonesia. Either way I'm hoping to find perfect empty reef passes to anchor beside and surf my brains out 12 hours a day!!

Re: Sydney to Fiji

Hi man! I would love to join you, I have unfortunately no sailing experience but I have a big dream of crossing the Atlantic next year and am very interested in learning the fine art of sailing. I am 22 years old student from Norway currently traveling around the world. In April my plan is to be in Australia on a work and travel visa to earn money and extend my journey for as long as possible. If you're interested then let's have a skype conversation, or even meet in Sydney(I plan to go there late January). Anyway, take care, and good luck

Re: Sydney to Fiji

svunknown, you are exactly the kind of personality I like to sail with.
only two things stand in my way!
I must vacate Australia early February...
and I don't like surfing.
your trip will be amazing and I wish you good luck.

The above quote was my favourite part of your post. I don't have experience but you're doing the exact trip I want to crew. On your journey to Fiji, what is your starting location? Are you planning to leave your starting location in April 2015?
