Sydney Harbour - seeking day sailing crew

I am looking for crew to help run my boat round Sydney Harbour.

Day sailing only, but this (hopefully) will be extended later.

Some docking experience or just good common sense needed.

I wish I could help like old times but my work has taken a lot more of my time then I ever planned on. Just came back from Asia and will be back out to Europe within the next few days! Good luck with your new crew and we hope to see you again soon. How's the boat coming along??

Weather or not...

We have had some really cr*p weather in Sydney for the last lot of months, and this has put our sailing and schedule out of wack.

Where we are at the moment.
* We actually put the sails on last week end, they fit and don't look too bad.
* Marlyn is getting some "lessons" and now knows how to run the boat!
* The boat is half way between construction mess and sailing condition.
* The Admiral says we can have some crew but I have to make sure the boat is nice.
* I'm still focused on only going out in good weather (fine, <15kts).
* There does seem to be a right way, a wrong way, and they way things are (or could be) done on Boracay.
* We do need arrangements for the care and feeding of the crew, even for a day sail.
* We now have an Achilles with a Tomatsu and need to develop protocols for them.

We're still quite a distance from "step on and go sailing". As a large boat set up for cruising it could take quite a while before we are that together.

However the Admiral say we can take some crew out next weekend, weather permitting. Any past, present or prospective crew could PM me if they are interested.

Sounds great!!! I know that we enjoyed every minute of our time with you and your boat!! We also learned a lot on the way with anchoring and just overall cruising and boat handling! I would love to see your boat with sails on it!!!

I've never seen such a solid boat in my life!! Can't wait to see it all finished and the pride and joy that she will become to you and yours!!

I check on this site often and wish I was back long enough to pick up where we left off. But, the more work I do, the closer I am to my own boat so all is good to a degree!! Can't wait to have you guys on our boat to reciprocate your generosity and time with your boat!!

Good luck with the new crew and keep us posted on your boat progress!!!

Cheers!!!!

Good luck, may St Murphy give beginners a break! We sailed on Sydney Harbour many times and always loved it. So many places to anchor O/night or just for a hour or two.Store Beach and Cobblers come to mind. Not far either from so many other great places like Pittwater,Hawksbury etc, as your expierience grows. You lucky people, enjoy it whilst you can. Natureboy

still looking for crew?

Hi there,

i just became a member of the forum minutes ago, so my profile is completely empty. I will be in Sydney in de beginning of January as I am travelling through this part of the world. If you are still looking for people to join you on day trips or even longer if need be, i will be more than happy to participate.

My personal profile in a nutshell; 31 year old / young male with sailing experience, but no blue water yet. I recently decided to sell my company and travel the world a bit, before beginning a new endeavour. I am looking to find a crew position on a boot travelling through Sydney or in this region of the world. I am an educated guy with an outgoing and hands-on personality. Eager to learn and always willing to help out.

cheers Dave

We have committments over Christmas/New Year but then...

We are fully committed over Christmas/New Years.
However we would like some help over the next few months to get the sails sorted out.
And I'd really love to get the hull checked/scrubbed/maintained...

[Warning : From time to time we can be a bit grumpy, miss a few necessary items and get a bit stressed. The "team" is sometimes non existent, a bit defensive and others might have to look out for themselves.]

Hi Boracay,

My wife and I are living in the Sydney CBD and are completing our competent crew this Saturday. We are looking for a reasonably friendly boat to help out on, gain some experience and make some new friends.

I am Australian, my wife is American. We moved back to Australia a couple of years ago after I had been in the US for 7 years. We are both keen to hear from you

Cheers,
Mike.
