NEED MORE INPUT!

Are you looking for crew, or not? And from where, to where? Looks like Hong Kong.

BTW didn't see video. Takes too much broadband from account.

Doug has been building this boat for the last 6 years and I've been watching the progress from almost day one. He's a few more years away from finishing.

What's unique about this build is most of the people that have worked on it have all volunteered and usually spend a few days or more and as such supply a background in one or more fields. And some have learned a few new trades.

If I can spare a week or two between cruising up north I'd like to go help him out. As they say, "The boat the Internet built" .

When you do get the chance to use some free wifi, spend a little time and watch a few of his videos, I know I've learned a few new things.

The image you see that appears to be in Hong Kong is, I believe, simply a photoshop image showing what the boat WILL look like (the image appears to have the SV Seeker cabin photoshopped on a background junk boat image) in the future based on a junk design currently in Hong Kong. I am not certain of this, but suspect this is a case of using an illustration, not the real finished (if it is even finished yet) boat.

"Crew wanted" for a boat that's years away from finished?
With a photoshopped picture?
That's nice.

Re: SV Seeker (The Boat the Internet Built)

I'm fairly new to this forum but it amazes me how many trolls are on here. So the individual has a boat that's not ready, he's looking for a crew to help build the boat boat and be part of the process. This doesn't fit your holier than thou mold of what a crew should be so you need to be negative?

I think that a post started in a "crew wanted" thread with a picture of a nonexistent boat is misleading. If somebody wants people to participate in the labor of building a boat I think it should be made clear at the beginning.
That's quite different from most crew wanted posts, which involve people wanted to go help sail the boat.

If you think the post in question is not misleading, well, good for you.
Feel free to go help build the boat.

He's essentially asking for free labor to help build and crew his boat. And when prompted for more info the response was "Go watch the videos".

Labor isn't cheap (for those of us that pay for it) and being that dismissive towards the people you are asking for help is rude, in my opinion.

If you don't want to answer questions, don't spam your project on a forum where you apparently have zero intention of becoming involved.

Re: SV Seeker (The Boat the Internet Built)

I have been on these forums for a long time and understand you can't please all the people all the time and for the most part replying to negative posts is a waste of time. But here is where I am coming from...

A) Not my project but I am a big fan.
B) What I posted is not a fake picture. What you see is the first frame from a video.
C) The video (for the few who have not watched it) is an invitation to get involved (in any way you want) in a very interesting project.
D) I can't put into text the contents of the video.
E) Free internet is very easy to find. Buy a beer they might have free Wi-Fi. With a little looking I bet you will find some. If not C'est la vie.

And with that let the flaming begin
