Singapore Deckhand

Hi everyone. I'm Gabriel.
Sorry to post this way out of topic of buying a boat in singapore.
I'm searching for answers with regards to employing an Indonesian/Malaysian deckhand in Singapore. I have searched the net high n low but to no avail.
Does anyone have any idea what are the procedures with respect to Singapore laws and how do I look for one?
May I know roughly how much is the monthly salary?

Hopefully u can answer my questions, but if u r not comfortable with it, no hard feelings sorry.

Thanks a lot.
Gabriel

Re: Singapore Deckhand

There are quite a few forum members from Singapore, so search the forums for "singapore" and you can PM locals with boats.

Normally if you are in a country they prefer that you hire a local, and will ask you to justify why you need to bring in a foreigner. Suggest you contact MOM for advice.

hi Gabriel,

up until recently, this has been a non-issue. but in the recent past the map/mom has started to make changes that will affect singapore registered boats ... the push being to employ locals ... consequently, the net cost of employing will go up ...

this is creating a headache for those who have filipinos, malays or indonesians working for them ...

difficult as of now to quantify the net increase in costs for the boat owner ...
