Sailing My Cat from Annapolis to Florida

Looking for an experienced crew member to Help sail my 38ft cat from annapolis to east coast of florida. You will be responsible for all travel expenses. I will supply the experience on an ultra clean air conditioned smoke free boat. We will travel down the ICW and outside weather permitting. Should take 10-12 days depending on our stops. Date is not yet set but will likely be sometime in the first 3 weeks in September.

Re: Sailing My Cat from Annapolis to Florida

I would be interested but have no experience on sailboats Without overnite passages I believe your time line is a bit optimistic, you will be mostly under power on the ICW Running day light hrs inside probably closer to 20 days. What is your cruiseing speed under power? Sepetember is good as day are still long and weather is pleasant

Re: Sailing My Cat from Annapolis to Florida

Average speed 6 knots, but we will be going offshore and sailing overnight weather permitting, looking to duck outside around morehead city NC
Maybe ducking back in around charleston, but definitly not going inside thru georgia. so we should have 3-5 days of 24 hour sailing. Once outside if the wind is right we can do 10 knots under sail.

Re: Sailing My Cat from Annapolis to Florida

Suggestion--in my travels Great Lakes/Fl found that Charleston/Fernandina is good outside trip. Leave daylight, arrive same. If you catch bad weather in Charleston, can still do ICW to Port Royal, anchor easily Factory Cr.(just before Ladys Is Br.)When weather's right, go thru bridge in AM and stop at "free" day dock just S. side of marina. Nice to stop, shop, meal, laundry. Pickup fuel/water on way out 5PMish and go for Fernandina. PS Port Royal outbound is supposed to be nasty in weather. Don't know, I had a great sail. PS trip was last Fall season.

I may have time but only if you stay outside. I have 30years experience including very heavy weather sailing.
