PNW to SF - what is the best way to hire an experienced captain?

We would like to sail from the Pacific Northwest down to San Francisco in late September or early October. We have zero ocean experience, and therefore would like to hire an experienced captain to go with us. What is the best way to find a good captain?

We have this link:
Boat and Yacht Sales, Buy Boats and Yachts - YachtWorld.com

However there are no reviews, ratings, etc.

If anyone has an experiences with people on that list, please PM me.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Scott

If i may be so bold, are you looking for a captain...or someone ASA certified?? A basic itinerary would be greatly appreciated, in case I meet your standards. PM me if your trip isn't already set to go. Thanks!!!

A lot of times your local Sea Tow can recommend good licensed captains.

I would be interested in talking with you about your trip. Currently live in Sausalito California. I'm a commercially endorsed yachtmaster offshore captain and just got back from a trans Atlantic crossing, France to Annapolis, Md. Would be interested in helping you plan and learn how to accomplish your goal. Please call me at 415-497-5686.
Thank you
Mark

Thanks for the replies folks. We have a plan and a captain, references checked out great. Now we just need a window, and of course some last minute boat work...
