Offering Free Help

Hey everyone, I just wanted to put feelers out for anyone looking for an extra hand. I'm verself employed with a well established blacksmith business. I am very new to sailing and would love to volunteer my time either on the water, or on land helping to fix up a boat in for gaining experience of the overall systems of a sailboat.( I hope in the near future to buy and fix up a boat myself, but was hoping to gain more knowledge and experience beforehand) What I lack in experience I make up for in work ethic. If there is anyone out there in the new England area fixing a boat up, or sailing and needs free help, I'd love to do whatever I can . Thanks again! :-)

I could always use crew in Haverstraw, NY, or taking a short cruise this Sept. 16-22, or maintenance help over the winter in Kingston, NY.

Re: Offering Free Help

Last week, I was visiting with a blacksmith who was helping the San Diego Maritime Museum with the construction of a replica of the San Salvador, a re-creation of the ship in which Juan Cabrillo arrived in 1542. He and other blacksmiths are creating specialized shipbuilding tools and iron fittings for the ship, which has just started getting built. I think this was a great effort and wonder if anything like this is going on back east.
