Thumbs up Need COUPLE to manage marina hotel etc Caribbean

Job opportunity for a general management couple in the Grenadines. My client has acquired waterfront yacht club operation in the Grenadines and seeks a management couple capable of:
-managing a four fleet large catamaran day charter biz
-a 12 room waterfront hotel catering to yachties
-bar/restaurant
-small marina

Offer is strange but interesting: USD tax free $1500/mo, accommodation if required, or slip gratis, plus 15% all profits
Full time.

This operation has a short term objective to profit with little investment and maintain the business UNTIL owner rebuilds and expands into hi end waterfront marina in a few years.

It is a dream job for the right couple.

French language skills and marine mechanical experiences helpful. TIming is URGENT. Owner has several hi end properties in his portfolio.

Please send communication to caribsearchltd@aol.com for full details. You will hear back from me...

thanks in advance.

$1,500 * 12 = $18,000 year
$18,000 / 52 = $346.15 week
$346.15 / 7 = $49.45 day
$49.45 / 2 = 24.73 each per day
$24.73 / 12 hours = $2.06 hour

For 7 days a week 12 hours a day.

No thanks.....

What an opportunity?

Low pay in a property too small for the 15% profit sharing to be worth much with an objective to milk as much profit out of the property, while it degrades due to a lack of maintenance, until the owner decides to tear it down and rebuild something else...

I agree, it's an award losing proposition.

Charles, the opening is for a couple... So it nets out to $1.03/hr per person!

Charles had already divided that out, $49.45/2 = $24.73 each per day. So each of us would be making $2.06 per hour.

I hope so, at 2 dollars an hour I might be able to survive on rice and beans if I had a place to crash.

Yeah, wow... this is the worst "opporunity" I have ever seen.

Maybe the urgency of the need to fill the position is because of how poorly the last caretakers were treated and/or paid?

I'd be highly suspicious of this one.

I don't know how many others here have spent a lot of time in the tropics, and though I have never lived there full time. I did for a number of years own a home and keep a car etc on the island of Cozumel. Not a Condo or a Time share but a stand alone home.
I did numerous small to med construction projects on the island as well, and all paid anywhere from poorly to almost equal to what I am paid stateside. Anyway. . . .I think I came to the conclusion that there are a LOT more shady characters in the tropics than there are at home. Oh I have meet and am good friends with a lot of wonderful people on Coz and the Maya Coast but it seems and others who have lived around the Caribbean have said it as well. The Area seems to teem with Liars Thieves and Scoundrels hahahahaha

To all who responded, reasonably and not, thank you.
The posting for a management couple is designed for people who are positive, and looking for an opportunity to stay afloat without dipping into a cruising kitty.

This is a famous property and marina that has recently been acquired and basically until the day it is flattened and rebuilt into a five star resort, the owner choses to keep it cruiser friendly and operational.

In return for someone to operate it, as is, he plans to offer expense money, accommodation, a slip, food and beverage allowance and 15% of profits.

This is not a career move, nor is it for someone with a day job. It is ideal for a cruising couple who would find pleasure in managing a wonderful little business in the Grenadines.

Attitude is what it is all about and we thank you good guys who have recognized the fun opportunity this provides for the right mind set. Unless you prefer snow and skyscrapers....to each his own!

Not a Crew Position

I'd like to point out to the mods that this post is in NO WAY a crew position and therefore should be pulled.

Commercial posts like this one don't belong in our "crew wanted" area.

If the head hunter is indeed a reputable outfit (they might be, based on a cursory gland of their website), they should be able to afford advertising and networking, rather than spamming a "crew wanted" spot on a cruising forum.

In their other posts, they are looking for help for a refit. Obviously this is a commercial post.
