My wife needs her sea legs

Greetings,

My wife and I are a young newlywed couple from Tennessee. I grew up sailing small boats like Hobie 16 and Sunfish with my brothers. I have had my wife on these craft with me a few times and she has proved to be a fast learning intuitive crew mate.

She just graduated from college and I was just laid off from my job as a geologist we we are free and are looking for new experiences. Short cruises of about a week in length from the South Eastern states are what we are looking for. I have crewed during races at the local yacht club but have never been on even an overnight cruise, nor have I stood watch at night; I do have sailing experience and know my knots. (I have been teaching my wife the ropes too). We would make a great crew because we will learn things your way, work hard, and we get along with people well.

We will be great deckhands and my wife will be GREAT in the galley. Yum Yum!

I think you should be a yacht salesman. You could convince a diehard mountaineer to convert to sailing.

Haha! That is quite the conversion we are trying to make Adverturebound! I aim to take this rock-hounding mountain man and woman and turn us into sea-crusing, scalawags! Rocks in the head, salt water in the veins.

Try sailing to small islands with high mountains.

For what it's worth, scalawag is a term that refers to Southern white reconstructionists during the post civil war era, not sailors, at least not specifically. Sort of a southern version of a carpetbagger.

Best of luck in your new adventure!

Re: My wife needs her sea legs

I am looking for a couple more hands leaving Vero Beach Fl for Annapolis on July 7. We are thinking of heading outside to Beaufort NC and then on up through the ICW the rest of the way. Right now it is just me and a friend. The wife jumped ship saying it was too hot! Let me know if you are interested. I'm a physicist so it would be real nice to talk shop with someone for once!
