LA to Phillipines 8000 Nautical Miles
Epic passage 8000 nat mi, non stop, no island hopping, from Los Angles to Phillipines through hurricane alley. 30 ' cal. Leaving Mar 1 2012.
This will probably be a record setter. No boat this size w/o engine has done this since the Spainish galleons. Need experineced person willing to share expense.
See you tube xpac8000 for intro to trip. Will be press coverage. Contact thedeepradioshow.com Jim Sullivan or pm me

Re: LA to Phillipines 8000 natuical miles
Who built your 30 foot sail boat Elusive Spirit? What equipment are you taking? I want to go. Now I need to find several thousand dollars to take my place at home.

Artisthos.
I called you and left message on your phone.
Boat is a cal 2 30, best 30' cruiser considering it size. Extensive mods have been done. bulkheads every foot, water tight compartments etc. Re done every thing. NO MOTOR. Going for simplicity ! Let Jim know real soon if you want this adventure. Others are also interested

Re: LA to Phillipines 8000 natuical miles
I cannot raise enough funds to go on this trip. I got the call and number but could not get through after two times. I saw the video. Looking forward to following the trip on the web site. Hope the crew drinks water from squeezed fish and gets their salad from seined plankton. Hope to see the texts posted on the Geo Pro. What other electronics will be on board? Fair winds.

Re: LA to Phillipines 8000 Natuical miles
Thanks for te interest. Jim has humbled me in setting up my boat w/ simplicity. Ther are always squalls that supply fresh water onon fairly frequnt basis. He does not even wory that there will not be enough storms for water. No radar, handheld GPS, no chart plotter, just compasss charts and gps. one simple 15 watt soloar panel 2 batteries. NO THRU HULL valves since no motor. Really should do a video on his boat. Low cost, sea worthy, safe, managable size. Costs go up as footage goes up

Phone won't let me post a link, but search xpac 8000 on YouTube and you will have your answer.

Apparently there was too much water.

Re: LA to Phillipines 8000 Nautical Miles
Trip was scratched. Health issues and other probs. It was a good try at it. A sincere effort was made by all including support. And just for your info, there was just ENOUGH water, not enough boat.

Re: LA to Phillipines 8000 Nautical Miles
Charlie, I followed jeanathon's advice and watched the latest YT video posted under xpac 8000. In that video Jim mentioned horrendous weather. Hence my flippant comment about "too much water".
Alas, the journey is not over if the desire is in the heart. Fair winds, good luck.
