Japan - Summer 2011

Ahoy!

I am studying abroad in Japan and will be finished between 8/1/2011-12/26/2011. I'd love to get back into sailing and I don't have a specific destination port in mind. I have an American passport (born and raised in FL).

I'm 21 years old studying nuclear engineering and international business (along with Japanese). My Japanese is fairly good and I can easily be your tour guide and take care of the various form/procedures while in Japan.

I don't have a ton of experience sailing (been on 7-10 weekend trips) but have been around boats all my life. I'm mechanically minded and can also cook, keep watch, etc.. I enjoy learning and can teach you anything from pharmacology and astronomy to nuclear physics and Japanese. Scuba is another one of my hobbies and I'd love to visit some dive spots along the way!

Please let me know if I can be of any assistance!
Best regards,
Elliot

Thank you! My visa here is valid until Dec. 26th 2011 so please let me know if you decide to come before then. Best of luck to you and your crew!

Have you checked out SailJapan?

Sail Japan

Its a great resource for all things sailing in Nippon.
There is a forum there as well so you might want to post on it asking to crew.
There is also a link to all the sailing clubs in many different areas.

がんばって!

ありがとう!
I'll definitely check it out. A yachting license is required for all boats over 3m here which is quite time consuming and expensive to get. I'll go ahead and post a thread there as well. Cheers!
