Crew Available: Instruction and Experience Wanted - CT, RI and Beyond

I'm a mid-40's guy in average shape looking to learn to sail. In exchange I can offer help with boat maintenance or computer-oriented work (my day job) - or perhaps something else you need that I haven't thought of.

I can devote one weekend day weekly for day sails in the CT-RI area, or I can take some vacation time for a longer trip.

what kind of boat do you seek. mine is more adventure than many. what other sports do you do-- what kind of lifestyle? worst yet-- what do you expect to learn from this experience.
what do you expect of the boat you seek.

i am aiming at panama canal and caribean and gulf coast. i a m in mazatlan. i believe in share the sail. (just in case you decide on a longer sail adventure)

Mr Icewater, I'll be sailing from Marina Del Rey, CA early November down to Mexico,cruising there a few months before going on down to Ecuador in preparation for a South Pacific crossing approx late February 2012.
When crew demonstrate an interest in navigation, boathandling and safety at sea I'm always willing to instruct in a relaxed, enjoyable and understandable manner. Please get intouch if you are interested!

Thank you Jamel and zeehag for the replies and the offers - unfortunately I have learned that the vacation time is not going to be possible this year.

I'm still looking for weekends nearby, for anyone lurking in the CT / RI area :-)

If you want to drive as far west as Haverstraw, NY, on the Hudson River...or to Kingston, NY, for help with winter maintenance, I'll be daysailing on the Hudson until the end of October and getting the boat ready for a cruise to Maine next June, if you're interested.
