In Singapore Looking to Clock Miles

Hi guys,

I've just finished my competent crew course from the Singapore branch of the RYA and am looking to clock some experience in.

The end goal is to sail to Australia with the graduating crew in two years time so we're all looking to rack up more mileage in the meantime.

My knowledge of sailing is, as you may expect, fairly rudimentary. But I can assure you I'm a quick learner and can redeem my lack of experience with good cooking.

I'm looking to sail in November-December for about a week or so.

Re: In Singapore looking to clock miles

Congrats Phishy.

Plenty of sailing going on in Singapore. Regatta season is winding down, I think Pesta Sukan(?) might be the last one. Sometimes you can hang around the regattas and pick up a crew ride.

The best way is to leverage people you know to get more intros around.

To be honest it takes real dedication to get a permanent ride. Lots of skippers have lists of lots of folks who come once or come at their convenience. The guy who always shows up and makes himself useful is the guy the Skipper will invest time and training in.

Good luck...

PS - Novemeber/December is when many boats start making for Langkawi and Thailand. Delivery spots can be had but are difficult to find out about.

I'll be back on the 6h. Send me a PM if you want to. Won't be around for long and I have crew this time, but perhaps later on.

I have arranged a couple of spots if you guys are interested. 36 Jeanneau - fun skipper. No spinnakers easy race.

Re: In Singapore Looking to Clock Miles

Yeah - Yesterday was a bust. No wind overcast, occasional drizzle rain.

Ended up getting quotes on my boat, cleaning and tidying some things up on and around the boat, did some masthead work for my buddies boat and motored around for about an hour.
