Of the folks I've met looking for paying crew, they seem to think of their boats as floating b&bs.

Technically, it's the same as vacation chartering with a captain. They just deal in cash and have no insurance.

I can't tell that they actually get many takers, but they keep trying in hopes that someday the boat will make some money.
