Florida to New York - 58' Sailing Catamaran

Hello
We will be departing from North Florida for Montauk/Sag Harbor area - towards the end of May.
The intention is to go outside non-stop - around 4 days.
However, stops in Charleston, Beaufort, Atlantic City are possible, and will therefore extend time indefinitely.
Experience not necessary but positive attitude, flexibility with dates, and ability to keep watch are.
No cash necessary. But must pay own travel/expenses to/from vessel (wherever that may be).
There may be a legal requirement to haul and survey before heading north - either at Ft Lauderdale or Savannah, Georgia.
Either way there are crewing possibilities.
Please message me with contact details, experience, time constraints etc., and we'll see if timing works.
cheers

Re: Florida to New York - 58' Sailing Catamaran

Hi,

I'd be interested in helping you bring this north. I live in NY so would first fly to Florida to meet you.

I'm a NZer, hoping to base myself in NYC but currently looking for work. I'll be taking a sailing course in Manhattan once a week for the next five week, but I think I could skip a class if needed to get some ocean experience.

I have sailed with friends in the Mediterranean before, so know the basics.

Let me know.. Malcolm

Hi,

I helped deliver a Lagoon 43' from St Martin to Kemah TX in 2008, 2700 miles. I have 40 yrs of sailing experience and I've served as a deckhand on a 63' salvage/towing tug out of New Bedford, salving yachts and towing fish boats in all kinds of weather year round.

Re: Florida to New York - 58' Sailing Catamaran

Just an update on timing. I have had many messages, but ultimately it will depend on peoples flexibility.
Last major job should be complete by weekend, hopefully depart Wednesday May 23rd.
I can take 2 or 3 crew.
There is no salary or expenses paid, but there is also no requirement to contribute to food or other expenses...(Except travel to and from vessel).
If we have to come into port then it is possible to dis-embark - for any reason.
I am in St Augustine FL, and intend to anchor in Sag Harbor NY. there are luxury bus services and Train to NYC from there (or private jet, helicopter, or float plane if you got the cash).
cheers

Shawn & I would be interested in joining you on your voyage up the East coast boarder. We would fly home, what would be the closest airport? The two of us just completed a 30 day sailing trip in the carribean on a 44' leporad, shawn is great at helping with nite watches and i am great in the galley and assitance when dock/anchor up. We are great easy going couple that is looking to get more sailing experience while we shop for a cat of our own. We are happy to share expenses.

Re: Florida to New York - 58' Sailing Catamaran

We are finally ready to leave.
Have weather window for Monday morning - May 28th.
Please send message with email/number etc if you are still interested.
We are in St Augustine - and intend to cruise outside to Montauk point - final destination Sag Harbor(about 900 miles).
Experience not necessary, but must be healthy, spry, and able to maintain night watches. I will have 3 - 4 people on board - So can allow short 2 hour night watches, with longer watches during the day...
Would require boarding on Sunday.
After trip can travel from Eastern Long Island by bus or train to NYC airports - then flights back to Jacksonville Airport - $75 cab ride to St Augustine.
If we have to stop along the way - would have the right/option to disembark.
Again no money required or paid for trip. Must only pay costs of own travel , etc...
cheers
.

Hi, AllezCat.

Better keep your eye on this one. NHC is saying it has a 70% chance of becoming a tropical storm between now and Sunday morning. Hope you have a safe passage!

Are you still headed out? I am departing this evening with a Manta 42 from St. Aug. , bound for Delaware. Looks like NE winds for 1 more day. Alberto didn't do his job of clearing out all of the lows on his way through.

Yesterday the plan was to anchor near the inlet Sunday afternoon, for easy departure Monday morning (or Sunday if conditions were good).
However, forecast suggests heavy conditions for Sunday from Beryl.
So, will wait at the dock until Monday morning departure.
I reckon there will be good Southerlies on the back of it for a few days - perhaps perfect fast downwind conditions.
We shall see...

Hopefully - it has tracked consistently so far.
I'm hoping to get out Monday morning after the northerlies are forecast to subside Sunday night.
Safe trip.
