Re: Delivery: Sydney - Port Stephens

I came down from Bundaberg to Port Stephens in Dec.

The south bound current was running at 4 or 5 knots,

I couldnt get into port Maquarie as the wind and current were making me go backwards, I was only 12 miles south of it,

I ended up in Forster at 2-30 AM, And even that was very hard to get into with the wind and currents,

Broughton Island is not a good place to park,

I do 7 knots on the Donk,

Re: Delivery: Sydney - Port Stephens

My feeling now is that my original fuel consumption figures were from short trips on Sydney Harbour with a lot of slow running. Running at 1800rpm against the current is going to give poorer numbers.

I'm now planning on one litre/nautical mile, specially against the Eastern Australian Current which seems to be running at about a knot, though we saw 3 knots going round Seal Rocks.

Anyway, made it to Port Stephens a few days ago. Thanks to all for their help.

Re: Delivery: Sydney - Port Stephens

Sorry. Senior crew gave orders and we're now in in Trial bay. Had to move it while the good weather lasted.

Hope to be in Coffs tomorrow.

Guess I will have to wait 'til you return to Paradise!! You would have had a great sail up the coast with the Sou'wester, and no doubt a few hump-backs for company!! Wishing you a safe passage to Coff's...! Cheers Harry
