Delivery from St. Helena to St. Lucia

Experienced crew required for delivery of Doug Petersen pilothouse 50 monohull from St. Helena to St. Lucia as soon as possible. Due to illness we had to interrupt the cruise. The boat is still catered with dry goods and tinned food - only perishables and fresh food need to be catered. Please reply to begicf@giers-online.de.

good luck getting there!

the only ship that takes passengers from cape town rms st Helena booked up till may.
the new airport doesn't open till may with still no definite flight schedule.

the only other possibility is via acension island on a british RAF flight, then the RMS st Helena ship costing roughly $3000 a head from the uk if one or more of the 10 seats is available to civilians.

just to make matters a little more complicated you need to apply for an entry permit at least a month before as you will be unable to book the flight to ascension island until in possession of a valid permit!

with all the best intentions in the world, realistically unless you are already on the island offers of help are pretty futile if you can't get there before may- june by which time the boat lying in the open anchorage will have been blown onshore by the winter storms that bring westerly winds.

do you even know where St Helena is?

Atoll I guess some folks are just nasty? Does your comments make you happy? If someone needs my help, I try my best to help.
With over 150,000 miles just on deliveries my record speaks for itself. BTW. Isn't it spring in the Southern Hemisphere?

I was in St. Helena in October on a delivery from Cape Town to Fernando de Noronha. Atoll's comments are pretty much spot on. There is a reason that Napoleon was exiled there.

Re: Delivery from St. Helena to St. Lucia

Hi Jackdale,

Yes I agree. But if I were I'll and had to leave my boat, I would do anything possible to get her out. Not knock someone who is willing to help. If the folks have the money to move a delivery crew there, then it can be done?

Being in the same line of work I took Atoll's comments as helpful.
Its an out of the way spot with limited access.. he'll have done his homework and is just giving others the heads up..
The only other way to get there would be as crew on another boat headed across from RSA.. if the owner can be induced to stop..

Re: Delivery from St. Helena to St. Lucia

Leopard moves some of their cats from Cape Town to the Caribbean on their bottoms. Some skippers stop in St. Helena. It might be possible to catch a ride with them.
