Delivery Caribbean (St Martin) to Newport

We are looking for crew to assist with a delivery from St Martin to Newport, RI, leaving at the start of July, weather dependent.

The intention is to sail direct, but with the option of stopping at Bermuda, if necessary.

Although desirable, offshore experience is not essential. More important is a familiarity with sailing, winch handling and an appreciation of the high sheet loads associated with a larger boat. As crew you will be part of a rotating watch schedule paired with another crewmember so you won't be alone on watch.

You will either be a US or Canadian citizen or have the required visa to enter the US by boat. All on-board expenses are covered and we can also cover your travel costs for you to join us in St Martin.

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks

If you have not yet identified your crew, I am interested and wish you would consider me. I'm retired military with sailing experience but not on blue water. Looking to gain some. My email is moorebrucem(at)earthlink(dot)net. Thank you. Bruce Moore

You people volunteering do realize this is a newbe to this forum, has not identified his experience, the type/condition of the boat nor if there is additional crew.

July is hurricane season, and although there may not be any hurricanes during the voyage, tropical wreathe leading up to hurricane force conditions can be difficult at best.

Sail safe and have fun

Re: Delivery Caribbean (St Martin) to Newport

Looking at the Op details suggests a CNB 76. I would think at least a couple of million $ maybe more, so I would guess someone knows what they are doing. However after reading the Lady D saga one would be well advised to check the details per Johns advice.

Paul

Re: Delivery Caribbean (St Martin) to Newport

Hello BlueCNB,
I would be more than happy to help with your suggested delivery. More than anything I am interested in logging additional hours at sea so pay would be negotiable. I too spend most of my time in Newport and have been a resident all my life. Feel free to check my profile for my prior sailing experience. If you are in town and still looking to fill a position on board you can contact me via pm on this account or email at charliep4993 at yahoo dot com.

John,

I understand your willingness to encourage people to be cautious when signing up to ocean voyages. All those who replied who were serious potential crew received a detailed description of the boat, safety equipment, procedures etc and my experience, as well as that of the other crew who were already coming along. I wouldnít want anyone as crew who would blindly sign up to a venture like this without knowing such details. I do not post all this information for all to see initially.
