Cycling Couple Looking to Cross the Darien Gap or More (End June 2012)

We are a couple cycling across the Americas and will need to get to Columbia (from Panama) in about 3-4 weeks time.

We are in our mid thirties. I have worked on a 60ft yacht before and kept the night watch. If you require additional information from us please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks.

Best regards,
Wai Yeng and Andy

Simply show up in Portabello and ask around (go to Captain Jack's). Lots of boats hauling backpackers, bicyclists and motorcyclists back and forth between Columbia and Panama. You may even get a few days in the San Blas out of it.

Why can't you bike over the bridge?

Thanks Mark, we will check out Captain Jacks.
Barnakiel, yes we will be cycling across the Panama canal but it not possible to travel overland between Panama and Colombia.

Oooppsss!

I looked up GE and indeed there is no road beyond Darien. One learns something every day.

Confirmed there are sailing boats that move backpack people there.

THX!

Thanks for the subsequent suggestions.

Wow, I didn't exactly do much research before and now I realise it will cost an entire month's cycling budget to get over to Columbia via the boats. We found a new ferry service operating between Panama and Columbia and will be researching more into that.
