Currently in Aitutaki and seeking a boat onward, preferably to Tonga. Have ticket from Auckland to US on 15 Sept 2014, so trying to get closer to get a cheap flight to Auckland. Very limited internet but will check email as frequently as possible. suzanne@svambrosia.com

If you can change your itinerary you'll probably be able to find a boat to sail from Tonga to Auckland in late Sep / Early Oct. Lots of boats coming down from Tonga then.

Thanks for the tip, I wish I could shuffle things. I was hoping to hop on one of the boats currently in the harbor here, but just didn't have time to work things out since I wasn't going to have a place to stay. I'm flying out to Auckland and instead of a sailing trip it looks like I'll spend 3 weeks checking out New Zealand as my flight back to the states is mid-September. Perhaps I'll come across someone who can use crew for some day sails while I'm enjoying New Zealand. Just have to be able to roll with things since the boat I was on didn't work out. C'est la vie; NZ wasn't the plan, but it sounds like a great place to go running, hiking, and such, so it's just a matter of juggling the budget since I wasn't planning for the hotel and dining expense that I wouldn't have had on the planned passage. But I'll make the best of it!

Well, New Zealand is the best country in the world, so i'm glad you'll spend a few weeks here. It's possible I'm a little bias.

Hang on... 3 weeks from the 15th is yesterday? Are you in NZ already?

You HAVE to go to the South Island. Queenstown and Wanaka in the South Island are two of the most beautiful places on earth. Walking around Queenstown feels like you're walking inside a postcard.
It will cost you to fly down there, but its worth it!

If/when you're in Auckland on a Friday, I can take you out for a Friday night rum race.
