Crew Wanted: Clearwater Beach FL to Destin/Apalachicola FL

Looking for an experienced captain/crew to deliver my 36' Watkins sailboat from Clearwater Beach Harbor to Destin Harbor FL. A new baby, bad weather and my work schedule never seem to cooperate. The boat is very seaworthy and has over 50gal of fresh diesel on board with an excellent running perkins 4-108 that always starts on demand. Good mainsail and working jib.

It may also be possible to take delivery near Apalachicola.

It was my first big trip. We had a good time though the Hunter 38 had some minor issues, one being algae in the fuel tank and on the pickup. The engine started cutting out 65 miles from shore but we were able to keep it running (on and off) until Destin a couple of days later where the captain sent my son and I home and he stayed to clean out the tanks before bringing the boat to Biloxi.

The stop-offs were fun: Gulfport FL mooring field, Dunedin City Marina, Appalachicola, then Destin. Destins Harbor is insane with rookie boater traffic and obnoxious charter boats, plus it was July 4th.

The sails were also weak at their attachments and gave way when we tried to leave Destin, another reason to give in.

Weather was fine, didn't see too much marine life, though. Can't wait to do it again!

Thank you everyone for the replies. My mast is 45', 46' with masthead gear. I would like to have it moved in the next week or two but safety for crew and vessel trump schedule. I am working on scheduling a haul out/bottom job at Port St Joe Boatworks which is just west of Apalachicola on the ICW and that will of course impact delivery location. I hope to hear from the marina tomorrow and will then know for certain.

I would certainly like to accompany the captain and will if available but I can not guarantee my availability due to my work schedule.

(The bottom was just cleaned in prep for the attempt last Saturday and tanks topped off)

I can not believe the response I got from so many highly qualified captains willing to help. In order to respect each of you that have sent me an email, call, txt, or post here, I wanted to relay that I believe I have found a captain to complete the delivery.
