I have been deliberately marooned on Palmerston Island (Cook Islands) since November 2015.

Didn't Palmerston just get higher speed internet over 03B? Place isn't as remote as it used to be!

I didn't maroon myself, if that's what it sounded like lol. I chose to be dropped off here and to make Palmerston my home. To abdicate from 'civilisation' as it were :-)

Palmerston has had a 2000Kbit connection for some time now, which makes it no less remote than it ever was. I can't magic up some antibiotics or a ride out using the net! The only way to get essentials is to wait sometimes three months for the next supply boat. I call that reasonably remote :-)

Fantastic book. It's what brought me to this part of the world. Have done two Northern Cooks voyages prior to this trip. Raro-Palmerston-Suwarrow-Nassau-Pukapuka-Apia in 2007 and again in 2011.

Nice quote but if it's true God also made Edmonton, Alberta and he needed a kick in the ass for those decisions.
