STCW 95-TWIC certified-CPR adult and children-First aid certified-Safety and Sea certified-Sailing endorsement-All certs current. Consider myself a heavy weather specialist. I have 6 transpacific crossings. Many Mexico races with over 40 deliveries of Mexico to California and South. I have over 120,000 blue verified blue water miles experience as of September 2012, including Los Angeles to Auckland, both directions, via Hawaii, Palmyra, Samoa, Tonga and Fiji southbound and Rarotonga and Tahiti northbound--Grenada, Curacao to Ensenada via Panama Canal-- Miami to Portugal via Bermuda and Azores Islands---- ICW, Miami to Annapolis--Up and down the West coast From Seattle and Portland to SoCal many times and in both directions. Columbia River Bar crossings, Seattle, Puget Sound and Straights of Juan De Fuca. Just completed a Vagabond 47' Garden Ketch to Port Townsend Wa and then delivered a Viking 58 ' from Anacortes to Ilwaco . Update
As I was arranging a survey and flight to go and see the boat, I got an email notifying me that the boat was sold! The woman never even indicated that there was another buyer interested, oh well if it's not meant to be!!

Happens all of the time. I have 2 people now seriously interested in my sailboat. Apparently not serious enough to put up a binder. If a third party comes along and puts money down pending survey, insurance, etc., I have no reason to contact the other "interested" party's. I would let them know that the boat was sold if they were to come back with further inquiries though.
Anyway, good luck in your quest. Boat buying is not as simple as one would wish, especially when you live nowhere near where your prospective boat is. Been there, done that, been lucky so far.

Tony is correct and this happens frequently. I have some advice for Ruff Riders as who may not have any idea what is in store as he readily admits his inexperience. Probably he was attracted to this boat because it was "cheap" and wanted to find a "cheap" way to get it to Costa Rica and probably wanted a "cheap" delivery job...and live happily ever after anchored off a sandy beach drinking rum.....but these rarely work out. If you cannot afford a professional and reliable skipper to hire, and you work his or her cost into that of the purchase to determine if you can afford it--well, you probably can't afford it. I've seen this time and time again. Well, I again asked you to contact me

and you did not, but I would have been pleased to give you some helpful advice. You need help. You need a pro. You have to be willing to pay the fee to support the labor market so a pro can be available. Do you really think $125 is reasonable? You will get what you pay for. There are many pitfalls to be avoided and there is a huge safety concern. Do not skimp. It will only cost you. So there--free advice. Take it for what you feel it is worth. It is often said that only a fool learns from experience...the wise learn from the experience of others.....
