Captain Out of Georgetown, Bahamas

Two couples with 50' cat looking to employ captain for trip to and around Turks & Caicos, from Georgetown. Looking to leave Georgetown around June 26 and fly out of Providenciales around July 7. We lack the experience to take full responsibility for sailing this nice new-to-us boat. The other more experienced people who were supposed to go with us and do most of the sailing had to cancel due to unexpected business issues -- so we're looking to hire a captain.

This is an ideal opportunity for a flexible, fun, sailor (as opposed to an ill-tempered or curmudgeonly one) who wants to make some cash and have an enjoyable trip with some nice, normal people.

We're two married couples, ages range from early 30s to early 50s. We're easy-going, fun and upbeat. We cook (sometimes quite well), help sail, clean, carry our own weight, etc. We're not high-maintenance and we're not looking to be pampered. We are looking for someone we'll enjoy being on our boat with. We can handle a younger guy who is licensed and competent to handle the boat, a lot better than a sailor with impeccable experience but who is rigid and negative. Younger, older or in-between, we are looking for a good fit, temperament wise. There's room for you to bring a friend, spouse or girlfriend too.

Shoot me a private message if you fit the bill or if you know someone (honest and qualified) who does. Thanks!

Hmm. So do you not want any women Skippers then? Sure you have good reason for that - We're probably all bimbos anyway

How about some photos of the boat?

The pronoun PC police caught me! Of course we welcome lady sailors. Apologies!

PC aside, sometimes it's desirable to have a good strong back onboard. And for that reason, all things being equal, I would choose a male over an equally qualified female. Just something to think about.

Well, that should start a firestorm. Apologies in advance.

Re: Captain Out of Georgetown, Bahamas

Three things to look for when filling any position.
1. Can they do the job?
2. Will they do the job?
3. Will they fit in with the rest of the crew?

Lots of people male and femail fit the first two. Sounds like these folks are really interested in number 3 and I for one, think they are on the right track.

Wish I was not booked this summer, I would apply. Sounds like a nice group with whom to sail.

George is on the money. I appreciate the suggestions sent. I have some lines in the water but would of course appreciate more suggestions or inquiries. I think this particular post would do better in the Forum section, but a well-intentioned moderator removed a duplicate one there and limited me to this section.
