Captain or skilled sailor, Panama to baja
I want to hire a CAPTAIN or SKILLED SAILOR to bring my boat North. The boat is now in Panama – a small river port called Puerto Mutis, near Santiago de Veraguas, north of Panama City. I want to take her to La Paz in south Baja, Mexico. It is a CS36T, a 36’ sloop, well set up for cruising.
I am aiming at leaving Panama on Dec. first. I will be arriving at the boat a week to 10 days prior, to open up, clean out and otherwise prep for leaving. I would come along as crew.
I will pay a fair rate, but am hoping to find someone close by [N. or C. America?] to keep the cost of air fare down. But this will not be the deciding factor if you are the right person.
If you are free in this time frame and would be able to help me, please send me an email through this forum. We can exchange information and see what we can work out.
Ciao, Margo

Re: Captain or skilled sailor, Panama to baja
I have passed the USCG exams, have a TWIX card, passed drug tests and driven my 52 ft motoryacht Darlin, from Mexico to Alaska, over 2,000 hrs as her skipper in the last 12 years. I did not acquire the USCG lic since I do not use my vessel commercially. I am currently in La Paz, I don't know how to sail, but would consider the trip for experience. I could provide my own transportation, and would only require food and expenses as compensation. Check my blog page for more info - mvdarlin.wordpress.com
