Boston Area Day Sailing

I have one of those jobs where I can get free time during the week. Now that it is the season I can spend some of these sailing but don't really care to go out alone.

So if you have flexible time and are interested in some sailing (I sail out of Salem) sent me a private message with your contact info.

Caution - I'm of cruiser thinking. Yes I like to go fast and sail properly, but if you want to sail on the edge of what the boat can handle you aren't going to get to do so on my boat!

Don:

Please see my profile on this site. I live in southern NH, and am often looking for someone to day sail with.

Like you, I can occasionally take a weekday to get out.

My email address is gene dot cpacfp at gmail dot com.

Hope to hear from you.

Gene

Re: Boston Area Day Sailing

Don,

I live in Arlington and have a Cape Dory 25 down in Buzzards Bay. I always thought the Salem area would be a wonderful spot to sail and I have a very flexible schedule, so if you're looking for company, give me a holler. Perhaps I could return the favor later in the season.

I'll be somewhat busy until July or so, but thereafter I'm more or less free.

My email address can be found at the bottom of my home page, Jesse Hughes. Please put something specific about sailing in the subject line, since I delete mail from unrecognized addresses fairly hastily.

Don,
I see you have already received a few crew offers, but you also might consider the Pelagic Sailing Club

That's an interesting club idea. You have to do 3 evaluation sails to get the right to take a stranger out on your boat.

Correct. On the other hand, the evaluation sails are with experienced crew members and you're in charge--where you sail, what you do, etc. So, other than the fact that you're being evaluated, it can be like any other pleasant daysail. You could also sign up as crew on some other members' boats and get some experience that way. It's not for anyone, but something to consider and, perhaps, try.

Hey

I'm moored in Salem as well and when I get off this contract I'll have plenty of time to go sailing and would love to help you out. Where do you keep your boat?

Re: Boston Area Day Sailing

Not trying to be an A-hole, but I said to send me a private message here on the forum if interested. That's because if all you did was reply to the thread it isn't a given that I even saw it if it went past the first 3-4 pages of new posts.

Doesn't really give me a warm feeling if one starts off not following directions.

So send me a PM, or send me an email to donlucas515 at gmail.com with your contact info and basic sailing experience.
