Do us all a favor and value your time.
Doing deliveries for cut rate prices devalues the market and limits our ability to actually earn a living.

Boatie, what's the issue?!?!?
I'd do Jacksonville to Melbourne, FL for a tad over $500+++

How about the Melbourne in Derbyshire in England? A bit further North and perhaps the source of the name stolen by the Aussies.

Re: Best Yacht Delivery Price to be Found
There's at least 7 Melbourne's that I can think of, 3 in UK,4 in US and 1 in Aus...
As for Delivery Skippers, Young and Cheap go together but like Phil, we are Old (aka Experienced) and Reasonable!!

Re: Best Yacht Delivery Price to be Found
Out of curiosity, do any of you, the old and experience ones, do deliveries in combination with a new owner getting up to speed on water sailing">blue water sailing?
I have some courses and a very very modest amount of experience and am considering a purchase in South Africa and delivery to the Caribbean.
It has suggested by the broker this is a good way to gain experience and knowledge. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Best Yacht Delivery Price to be Found
We do it all the time. I' m doing one from East coast to Virgin Islands in couple of weeks' time. Its really a great way for a new owner to learn his boat, develop confidence and get the hang of all that is involved in passage making. The South African run is a great trip: quite long but not technically too difficult. I'd love to help you do it!

Most captains will do "owner-assisted deliveries". The wording of that is key- the owner is assisting the captain.
+1 on great way to learn your boat and get a crossing in.
Are you going to do some shakedowns before heading out??
@Boatie- all the penal colonies were settled by thieves whatdya expect?

Re: Best Yacht Delivery Price to be Found
I did an owner assisted delivery from Florida to Maine this year. We spent a month, and by the time we arrived, the owner was a lot more confident and competent.

Re: Best Yacht Delivery Price to be Found
Thanks for your quick replies. I am a few months of physiotherapy away from the doc giving me the okay to sail. Then about 10 month from ordering to delivery. I will keep this thread pinned and once things are sorted health wise, follow up.
