Australia to Solomon Islands

We are on a 44ft Cat and will be leaving for Honiara around late April. Our planned route is Mooloolaba (Qld) to New Cal, then to Vanuatu, Reef Islands, into the Sollies where we plan to stop in Honiara for a while. The trip up is planned to take 6-8 weeks or maybe a little longer. We plan to be in the Solomons until November when we will return to Australia.

Its just my wife and I, The boat is new with all the mod cons. I am MC5 and MED II and my wife is a nurse. Looking for either a single or couple to share the trip, watch keeping etc...

Sailing experience would be preferable. Own gear, share costs.

PM me if your interested.

Re: Australia to Solomon Islands

Hello. My name is Dan, I am interested in doing part of your trip with you. I would love to do all of it but I need to be back in Sydney to set sail for the Whitsunday's by June 1st on my own boat. If you are interested in having someone along for part of the trip please pm me. I am hard working, easy going, can cook a great meal, don't smoke, only drink wine when not sailing, I'm not political or religious and have a great sence of humour if I say so my self.

Re: Australia to Solomon Islands

Hi Dan,

I can highly recommend Dan for crew having done a couple of trips with him, a delivery Sydney/Hobart, Sydney/Broughton Island (return) on Dan's own swanky boat and a couple of races on a Farr 40 with Dan on the mast and me on the bow.

Dan is very good company and easy to get along with... his one draw back is he is a yank... he can't help it. Just kidding Dan.

I have never seen anyone so cheerful whilst hurling profusely over the side.

He presents himself as an expert in the art of finagling but that is simply not true at all. In fact he is quite a generous person.

I am not as "nice" as Dan but I have a lot of sea miles and racing experience and could possibly be tempted into crewing with you also. I have spent three seasons in the Louisiades and further north as far as New Hanover and extensive Oz coastal cruising. I catch fish and can cook etc.

Fair Winds,
Anthony.

Re: Australia to Solomon Islands

Hey there,

I have some experience, on tall ships though, and am looking for a berth to Vanuatu. Currently based in Brisbane and surrounds, I am very easy to get along with, hard working and speak Bislama, the national language of Vanuatu.

Let me know!

Re: Australia to Solomon Islands

Hi,

Sounds like just the trip I'm aching to do!! I'm very keen to join part of your journey. I live in Sydney and can fly to you around mid- April. I can stay for a max of two weeks. How would that work with your plans??

I've got offshore and inshore experience and feel comfortable with most roles on the boat. Please feel free to call me on 0411377186 to chat or skype: cathylawsin.

Cheers!!!
