Re: Annapolis to BVI

Are you going straight line or along the US coast and island hopping?
Any chance you will start in December?
I had my capt. license on a 46' Leopard in the BVI and currently sailing Gemini 35 cat.
No Blue water experience
Very interested, please let me know if you are still looking for crew.

Re: Annapolis to BVI

Have sailing experience (own a Catalina 22 for 4 years and sail Charlston SC), not much Blue water sailing but have plenty of blue water on Sea Shepherd in the engine room and commerical fishing boat off Cape Cod. Don't get sea sick and been in several heavy weather storms. Live in Asheville NC but love the Ocean. Pay my own way. Mellow and thoughtful.

Re: Annapolis to BVI

Good day Fearnow!

Your trip sounds like a perfect adventure. I'm Mark, 28, sailed all my life and have met two wonderful people on this site who were willing to share their voyages with me and I had great experiences, motivating me to apply for this opportunity. I am a navigation officer on a ferry in Ontario and have cruised Seattle to San Francisco and partially circumnavigated Cuba - both on sail boats. I have charted sailboats in the BVI on xmas vacations and have been lucky to have all this blue water experience behind me. As a professional mate, I am only looking to do what is asked of me as I am a humble and modest guy and I'd like to make the most of my time off - I'm free November 1st. Please get in touch as I believe this is a good fit- mostapiak@gmail.com or text/phone 289-442-0365. I'm residing in southern Ontario.

10 days would be optimistic. I just did this trip from BVI to JAX and it was more than 10 days aggressively.

Were you rowing?

Haha. Last passage was from Fajardo to Annapolis. 10 days and that included a stop and getting 5 hours of sleep at Cape Henry.

dploypos & fearnow, when going south to north you may gain additional 2-4 miles/hour with the gulfstream or other currents, north to south you lose the same and more chance for south & south-east wind which will also affect your time/direction so both of you may be correct going south or south-east may take more time. I am interested but can join only in December.

Not for us it didn't. I think a lot of gain from the stream depends on many factors, but going North we saw nearly no bump from it whatsoever.
